304 / 304L - Rolled Alloys, Inc.
304 is the original "18-8" stainless. It is produced in greater quantity than any other austenitic stainless steel. 304 provides useful resistance to corrosion in many environments ranging from moderately reducing to moderately oxidizing. Through the controlled addition of nitrogen, it is common for 304L to meet the mechanical properties of 304 stainless zam sheet cold rolled alloy steel plate Machining Stainless Zam Sheet Cold Rolled Alloy Steel Plate Machining - Image ResultsPRODEC 303 - Rolled Alloys Machining grade of 303 stainless steel is a fully resulfurized free-machining austenitic stainless steel melted and processed to maximize machinability.. Prodec 303 contains 0.30% minimum sulfur for enhanced machinability, substantially higher than the 0.15% minimum required by ASTM PRODEC 304/304L
Alloy 303 Austenitic Stainless Steel Plate - Sandmeyer Steel
Alloy 303 (UNS S30300) is an austenitic stainless steel developed for applications requiring extensive machining operations. The alloy has a sulfur addition which assists in breaking up turnings while reducing drag on the cutting tool when compared to the machining characteristics of the conventional 18-8 stainless steels. The alloy is nonmagnetic in the annealed condition , but may become slightly magnetic as a result of cold working. Plate and Sheet Flatness - Rolled Alloys, Inc.The requirements on the flatness of the plate and sheet products sold by Rolled Alloys vary considerably by the type of product, by alloy, by thickness and by the size of the piece. AMS and ASTM standards exist which cover the flatness requirements for most plate and sheet items as produced by the mill. Specifications A 480 and AMS 2242 cover stainless zam sheet cold rolled alloy steel plate Machining Stainless and Nickel Alloy Machining - Rolled Alloys, Inc.Stainless and Nickel Alloy Machining. In general terms, machining stainless and nickel alloys is more difficult than machining low alloy steels. However, there are a wide range of stainless alloy compositions and a few of them (such as 416) can actually have better machinability than mild steel.
